1. Director of Squash & Community Service

Description:
StreetSquash seeks a full-time, benefited Director of Squash and Community Service starting in September 2008. Squash Directors work in conjunction with Academic Directors to guide 24 students on a given team in each grade. The Squash Director is responsible for the organization and supervision of weekday and weekend squash practices and community service outings, which includes, but is not limited to, on-court instruction, recruiting of volunteers, planning of tournaments and matches, and placement of students in summer squash programs.

Beyond daily programs, Squash Directors perform extensive outreach in support of our students and families, visiting their homes and matching them with additional services when necessary.

StreetSquash believes in providing opportunities for professional growth and encourages its staff to develop skills in a wide range of program areas, including, but not limited to: curriculum development, grant writing & fundraising, and marketing.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, and have extensive experience playing or teaching squash.
  • StreetSquash seeks high energy individuals who are committed to serving disadvantaged youth and communities.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is desired, but not required.

2. Director of Alumni Outreach

Description:
The Alumni Outreach Program is an initiative focused on: providing ongoing support to StreetSquash alumni who have invested many years in StreetSquash; increasing alumni involvement; and providing guidance for alumni not enrolled in college.

    StreetSquash seeks a full-time, benefited Director of Alumni Outreach starting in July 2008. The Director of Alumni Outreach will work in conjunction with program staff to connect with all graduates and former participants of StreetSquash. The Director of Alumni Outreach will be responsible for building a network of quality internships and potential job leads to which we can refer alumni; raising funds for the college scholarship; increasing alumni giving to the StreetSquash program; and focusing on alumni involvement.

    Responsibilities include:

    1. Creating two professional development & social events each year that bring alumni to the StreetSquash Center
    2. Scholarship fundraising with alumni involvement
    3. Travel to colleges and jobs to meet with alumni
    4. Identifying alumni needs and developing support services

    StreetSquash believes in providing opportunities for professional growth and encourages its staff to develop skills in a wide range of program areas, including, but not limited to: curriculum development, grant writing & fundraising, and marketing.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree with minimum of 2-3 years work experience or Masters degree in related field.
    • Skilled in developing programs, building a network of resources, fundraising preferred.
    • StreetSquash seeks high energy individuals who are committed to serving disadvantaged youth and communities.
    • Proficiency in Spanish is desired, but not required.

    3. Academic Director

    Description:
    StreetSquash seeks a full-time, benefited Academic Director starting in September 2008. Academic Directors work in conjunction with our Squash Directors to guide 24 students on a given team in each grade. The Academic Director is responsible for the organization and supervision of weekday after-school academic sessions, which entails the preparation of academic materials, management of program sites, and management of volunteers and part-time tutors. As part of our goal to provide the best possible services for our students, Academic Directors also meet weekly in schools with teachers, and visit each student’s home to meet with parents to assess each child’s individual progress in school and in StreetSquash.

    Beyond daily programs, the Academic Director performs outreach in the community and with various social service agencies to connect our students and their families with a wide variety of services that will give them the greatest opportunity for success in life. StreetSquash believes in providing opportunities for professional growth and encourages its staff to develop skills in a wide range of program areas, including, but not limited to: curriculum development, grant writing & fundraising, and marketing.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and experience working with youth in a variety of capacities.
    • StreetSquash seeks high energy individuals who are committed to serving disadvantaged youth and communities.
    • Proficiency in Spanish is desired, but not required.
