StreetSquash Programs
StreetSquash offers youth enrichment programs throughout the year for children from the Harlem community, one that is vastly underserved. The After School Program and the College Prep & Literacy Program run during the school year, and the Summer Discovery Program is held during during summer vacation.
The three primary components of StreetSquash are: Academic Instruction, Squash Instruction, and Community Service.
The After School Program for Middle School and High School, incorporates all three components. During regular after school sessions each student receives academic support and squash instruction. On Saturdays, participants meet for a variety of activities including community service projects, squash competitions, and field trips throughout New York City.
The College Prep & Literacy Program is comprised of the College Prep Program for High School students and the Literacy Project for Middle School students. The Literacy Project focuses on developing basic skills and critical understanding. The College Prep Program focuses on college readiness and awareness. The Summer Discovery program incorporates both Squash and Academic activities for children in lower grades.
Cultural enrichment also plays a big part in all of our programs. Beyond the squash competitions and community service work, other weekends are spent participating in cultural outings like a visit to the Bronx Zoo, the Om Yoga Studio, or The Brooklyn Museum of Art.
